socks for jack

My second pair of knitted socks were a gift to my father-n-law while he was in the hospital a while back. I'll have to get back to you on the brand of yarn I used and the colorway; I'm in Texas now and the label is way back in Hawaii.

But as with all the socks I've knit so far (a whopping 3 pair) I've used Silver's Two Toe-Up Socks on One Circular Needle tutorial, and I love it! My friend Bethany turned me on to it, and I tell everyone I know about it too. It is especially good for those knitters who are new to knitting socks, as I was. Silver's photos are super helpful and you can follow them through the entire tutorial, which is divided into 5 easy to follow sections.

This method does use the Magic Loop technique, but, if you aren't familiar with it, there is link to a great video you can watch to learn that too.

I'm kind of addicted at this point, not so much to knitting socks, but to this method of knitting them. My fourth pair on the needles now, I decided to make a pretty intense cable pattern. But despite the pattern being written completely different, I am using Silver's method and just subbing out the stockinette for the cable panel—totally saving my life!

If you are thinking you'd like to try knitting socks, but, like me, they kind of intimidate you... I encourage you to give Silver's sock class a try!

Happy sock knitting!
