magic mushrooms

I've always wanted a tiny faerie garden. It would be home to wild English Ivy, Rock Cap Moss, various ferns, flowers and artifacts. And no faerie garden would be complete without some magic mushrooms. I imagine they are the tall Palm trees of the faerie world, offering shade and protection from the elements as well as charms to protect the faeries from being seen.

Since magic mushrooms aren't so easy to come by I decided to knit some, twenty-eight in total, and plant them around the base of a very big Monkey Pod tree as part of TheFuzz's Yarn Bomb Exhibition in the Honolulu Museum of Art's Spalding House garden. They hear they have been quite the sweet little surprise for the visitors. Just as I imagine faeries would be. And that makes me smile.

Do you believe in Faeries?
