bomb-tastic!

My husband cut down this big branch last weekend while getting our yard ready for the open house and upon seeing it I just knew it couldn't be thrown away. Although it's a ton-o-fun, you don't have to go out into your neighborhood to yarnbomb. Sometimes, those little fuzzy surprises are the sweetest when they're right at your doorstep!
Using stash yarn and some inexpensive wool, I knit this up in a few hours. Made of mostly Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (WOTA), I also mixed in some remnant Kettle Dyed Malibrigo, Patons Canadiana Acrylic, Knit Picks Palette and Comfy Worsted and some gifted stash yarn that I got from a friend. The pattern is simply K1, P1 ribbing all the way up making the gauge/width measure a few stitches wider than the branch's circumference. The blue knitted lace part (SKP) is taken from this pattern I found here, which is an awesome pattern btw! I still need to take photos of the pairs I made so I can put them up on the blog, but I loved them so much I made 3 pair to give as gifts and a pair for myself!
Welcome home, indeed! Every time I come face to face with this happy stick now I just have to smile. Not because I made it, but because I saved it.
